Spreadsheet Solutions
Spreadsheets are handy for "solving" certain types of problems. Over the years I have written spreadsheets to "solve" a variety of these little problems. While these spreadsheets will never replicate the features available in a software package, these will bridge the gap between having nothing and paying big $$$ for a full featured software package. The spreadsheets published here are ones that I have found useful over the years. I hope that you find them useful as well.
The Spreadsheet Solution templates available for download are:
The spreadsheets are provided as Templates; see the Installation instructions on how to use Templates. The templates are made available for free download and usage, but not redistribution; see the licensing page for details.
Quick Forms
Quick Forms are for printing standard business forms, such as Estimates, Quotes, Purchase Orders, and Invoices. The spreadsheets let you hide the calculations on items and taxes, while keeping that information for your records. Print the spreadsheets to PDF for distribution by email.
These spreadsheets are suitable for businesses that need one-off or ad-hoc forms.

Quick Project
The Quick Project template provides a simple project plan outline. The spreadsheet lets you create a work breakdown structure with task assignments and durations. The spreadsheet calculates the project duration and effort required. You can "cut and paste" the information from the spreadsheet into a *real* project planner if you need to.
This spreadsheet is suitable for simple little projects which only need a "back of the envelope" estimate. The spreadsheet has a maximum of 5 "resources" for task assignments.

Quick Financial Statements
The Quick Financial Statements template provides the standard Income Statement, Balance Sheets, and Statement of Cash Flows for a business plan. I needed a good template for creating business plan financial statements and couldn't find one; so I wrote this one instead.
This spreadsheet is suitable for most SOHO Business Plans that follow GAAP. Most likely, you will need to provide more detailed calculations for the business areas that "make or break" businesses in your industry (for instance, if capital asset depreciation is critical to you, then you will need to expand on this section).

Quick Personal Cash Flow
The Quick Personal Cash Flow template provides a simple database for tracking and balancing your bank accounts. Transaction information is entered on a per account per day basis. The spreadsheet can be used to create a personal monthly/annual budget, which is updated with actual expenditure information.
The spreadsheet calculates your current and future *cash* position; use this information to determine how you will handle short falls in cash. The spreadsheet tracks the daily cash balance on 5 accounts (normally cash, credit card, chequing, and savings accounts) with 10 categories per account.

Quick Business Accounting
The Quick Business Accounting template provides a simple database for tracking business transactions and rolling up the data into an income statement. The spreadsheet uses the normal double entry bookkeeping for entering transactions.
This template is suitable for organizations with a minimal number of Accounts (20 Revenue + 20 Expense accounts) and annual transactions (< 1000 transactions per year).

Quick Retirement Planning
The Quick Retirement Planning template provides a forecast of your financial situation when you retire. The spreadsheet accounts for major expenses, retirement savings, pensions, and taxes in order to determine how much spending money you will have once you retire. While this spreadsheet is not a professional "planner", it will help you "run the numbers" on your retirement situation in order to give you an estimate of where you will be.
